Abstract
Namen tega dela je raziskati, kako dvojezične izobraževalne politike v Ljudski republiki Kitajski vplivajo na jezikovno kompetenco govorcev etnične manjšine Yi, natančneje podskupine Nuosu, ki živi v avtonomnem okraju Liangshan v provinci Sichuan. V središču analize je vprašanje, kakšen je položaj sodobne standardne kitajščine v primerjavi z jezikom Nuosu ter kako različni psiholingvistični in sociolingvistični dejavniki vplivajo na razvoj dvojezičnosti med otroki te manjšine. Posebna pozornost je namenjena nivoju znanja obeh jezikov v okviru formalnega in neformalnega izobraževanja ter vplivu družinskega okolja, šolske politike in vsakodnevne rabe jezikov na razvoj jezikovne identitete. Diplomska naloga izpostavlja, da pogosto spregledani psiholingvistični in sociolingvistični dejavniki odločilno oblikujejo dejanski nivo dvojezičnosti, ki se lahko močno razlikuje od ciljev, zastavljenih v uradnih dokumentih. Metodološko je raziskava zasnovana kot teoretična in primerjalna analiza znanstvene literature. Uporabljeni so viri s področij politologije, sociolingvistike, antropologije in psiholingvistike, z osrednjim poudarkom na interdisciplinarnem pristopu, ki omogoča bolj celostno razumevanje jezika kot družbenega in psihološkega fenomena. Zaključki prispevajo k razumevanju vpliva jezikovne politike na manjšinske skupnosti in poudarjajo pomen dojemanja dvojezičnosti v večjezičnih okoljih.

Title:The Impact of China’s Bilingual Education Policy on the Language Skills of the Yi (Nuosu) Ethnic Minority in Liangshan, Sichuan Province
Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to explore how bilingual education policies in the People’s Republic of China affect the language abilities of the Yi ethnic minority, especially the Nuosu subgroup living in the Liangshan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. The main focus is on the role of Standard Chinese compared to the Nuosu language, and how different psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic factors influence the development of bilingualism among Yi children. Special attention is given to the level of knowledge in both languages through formal and informal education, and the influence of family, school policies, and daily language use on children’s language identity. This thesis shows that psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic factors, which are often overlooked in existing research, strongly shape the actual level of bilingualism. This level may differ greatly from the goals set in official education policies. The research uses a theoretical and comparative approach, based on academic literature. Sources come from the fields of political science, sociolinguistics, anthropology, and psycholinguistics. An interdisciplinary method helps to better understand language as both a social and psychological phenomenon. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how language policies affect minority groups and show the importance of recognizing bilingualism in multilingual societies.
