In my thesis, I researched hate speech, hateful speech and violent speech in the Slovenian public space. I addressed the definitions of the terms and analysed the criminal prosecution of hate speech, as it is the only concept that is also prosecuted by law. While analysing cases and critically comparing discourses, I outlined some of the characteristics of the speeches. I also dealt in more detail with specific case law on the criminal prosecution of hate speech, focusing on the effectiveness of case law and the adequacy of rules governing this area. I also critically assessed how speech should be regulated and to what extent the criminal prosecution of hate speech makes sense.
