This thesis examines prose poetry as a specific poetic form that falls between lyric and epic poetry, analysing it through the works of four Slovenian authors: Milan Jesih, Dane Zajc, Edvard Kocbek, and Ivan Cankar. The purpose of the research is to compare selected prose poems from the anthology Brez verzov, brez rim (Without Verse, Without Rhyme) with other, more conventional poetic works by the same authors, and to determine how the poetic genre
influences the themes, structure, and style of each poet. Each prose poem is interpreted in a separate subchapter, and the analysis of each poet concludes with a subchapter comparing their work with other poems. The analysis shows that prose poems by all authors are intertwined with their broader poetics, but with varying degrees of distance from their established poetic practices.
