In my thesis, I deal with stroke, bibliotherapy and documentary, testimonial and autobiographical literature. I present stroke, post-stroke impairments and post-stroke rehabilitation. I continue with a summary of the theoretical side of bibliotherapy, its composition, division etc. I compare documentary, testimonial and autobiographical literature and their characteristics. Then, based on the findings of the comparison of the listed types of literature, I analyse selected novels that use stroke as a motif or thematize it. I deal with Evald Flisar's novel Zbiralec sanj (The Dream Collector), Miljenko Jergović's Psi na jezeru (Dogs At the Lake), Ivan Blagus's Znova govorim (I speak again) and dr. Jill Bolte Taylor's Kap spoznanja: moja pot okrevanja po možganski kapi (My stroke of insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey). I conclude my thesis with the connection between stroke and bibliotherapy, with additional discussion of selected novels and the argumentation for introducing bibliotherapy into the rehabilitation process after stroke.
