This thesis examines media and political manipulation from a linguistic perspective. The thesis is designed theoretically and analytically. First, I did an in-depth research about meanings of manipulation. I investegated the tacticts of media and political manipulation, based on famous researchers like Noam Chomsky and Teun A. van Dijk. Then I transferred those theories to the analytical part, where I analysed the influence of social media, newspapers, advertisements on TV and news. I inspected verbal and nonverbal elements of language. I was interested in what rhetorical devices are often used and how body language can influence media manipulation. I analysed the following online news: 24ur novice, Žurnal 24, Slovenske novice and RTV SLO novice. I was interested in how journalists create headlines and gain attention. Next, I started researching political manipulation. I analysed famous speeches from history like those given by Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Then I also studied Donald Trump's speeches. And lastly, I analysed the rhetoric of our Prime Minister Robert Golob.
