The goal of this master’s thesis is the development of a system that automates
the cooling of a tank’s contents during the fermentation process
and provides insight into its progression by measuring the relative density
of the liquid. Automation reduces temperature fluctuations within the tank
and eliminates the need for the winemaker to manually manage the system
multiple times a day.
The solution consists of modules that handle the cooling of individual
tanks and a web application for their monitoring and data collection. The
module software was developed in the Arduino environment and written
in Arduino C/C++, while the web application was built using the Laravel
framework.
The results of the thesis encompass the development of a system with
two cooling methods (ON/OFF control and fuzzy logic), an add-on for fermentation
monitoring, and the outcomes of its testing. The system proved
to be practical and promising, but with room for improvement, particularly
in adjusting certain fuzzy logic parameters and in measuring the progress of
fermentation.
