In the diploma thesis, we analysed the satisfaction of the citizens of the Municipality of Grosuplje with environmental protection factors. The aim was also to determine what the role of the municipality is in the field of environmental protection and how it can contribute to improving it. We focused on the following factors: water quality, waste management, air quality, noise pollution and sustainable mobility.
In the theoretical part, a review of the contents of the studied area was conducted using the analysis of secondary sources, and the findings were presented using the compilation method. In the research part, the online survey method was used, and the hypotheses were verified using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
As part of the research, it was found that the citizens of the Municipality of Grosuplje are most satisfied with waste management, further with water quality, noise pollution, air quality, and they were least satisfied with sustainable mobility. The hypothesis that the citizens of the Municipality of Grosuplje are generally satisfied with environmental protection factors is partially confirmed. The hypothesis that the citizens of the municipality of Grosuplje are more satisfied with the quality of water than with the quality of air is confirmed. The hypothesis that demographic data (gender, age, education) have a statistically significant effect on the satisfaction of citizens with environmental protection factors is partially confirmed, as statistically significant differences were found only for age, when it comes to the noise pollution factor, and education, when it comes to the air quality factor.
The results of the survey have important effects for the public sector and the social environment. They offer the municipality of Grosuplje guidelines for planning better environmental policies, and society allows for greater awareness of the importance of environmental protection. The results can be an important starting point for further in-depth research or as a comparison with possible future researches.
