The thesis analyses the structure of circumstantial subordinate clauses based on an excerpt from the novel El amor en los tiempos del cólera by Gabriel García Márquez and attempts to establish parallels with the structures used in the Slovenian translation.
The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the first, subordination is defined from the perspective in linguistic studies of both languages, followed by a description of circumstantial subordinate clauses in Slovenian and Spanish. The focus is also on examples of these circumstantial subordinate clauses in their implicit form. The practical part presents a syntactic analysis of specific examples of such subordinators, categorized by their subtypes, and their implicit variants, also classified by subtypes, from the selected excerpt, as well as their comparison with their translations. The analysis aims to examine the overlap between the Slovenian translations and the Spanish original, considering formal classification criteria and semantic aspects.
