This master’s thesis presents the redesign of the open-source video conferencing
system Jitsi Meet, which Arnes offers as the Arnes VID service, with
emphasis on improving accessibility for visually and hearing-impaired users.
We followed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and implemented
adaptations such as optimized color contrasts, improved compatibility
with screen readers, and real-time captioning. Evaluation through user
testing and the UEQ questionnaire confirms that the redesigned system significantly
improves the user experience for all users. With this work, we aim
to contribute to greater awareness of the importance of digital accessibility
and encourage similar initiatives in other areas of digital services.
