Abstract

Title:The impact of artificial intelligence on employment and the labor market
Abstract:
The thesis titled The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Employment and the Labor Market addressed one of the key challenges of modern times, namely the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation on the structure of employment and the future of work. The aim of the research was to examine how AI is transforming existing professions, which professions are most at risk or newly created, and what consequences this has for working conditions, wages, and job security. Special attention was also given to the role of retraining and education in adapting employees to the new demands of the labor market, as well as to the legal and ethical issues accompanying the introduction of new technologies. The empirical part was based on a survey conducted among 43 employees in Slovenia from various sectors. The analysis of responses showed that most employees recognize the potential of AI to increase productivity, while at the same time expressing concerns about possible job losses, particularly in sectors where automation is more widespread. The results also highlighted significant differences in the perception of AI’s impact across different fields and emphasized the high need for continuous training and retraining to acquire digital skills. In addition, respondents identified ensuring algorithmic fairness and the protection of labor rights as crucial. Based on the findings, it was concluded that the successful integration of AI into society requires a proactive approach by the state, companies, and individuals. The recommendations include investing in education and retraining, establishing clear regulatory frameworks, and promoting the ethical and responsible use of AI, thereby ensuring a fair and inclusive transition into the era of automation.
