In my thesis I discuss the motif and theme of love in the poetry of Vida Jeraj and Josip Murn. We associate both with Slovenian modern, Murn as one of the most recognizable representatives and Jeraj as her companion. The analyzed poems are similar mainly in the expressed yearning for love, which is related to their unfulfilled love in real life, and the nature motifs present throughout. Jeraj often describes a fleeting, momentary love that makes the lyrical subject overjoyed, but is almost always aware of its end. The lovers meet in secret, but the lover is in the girl's heart even when they are not together. In the case of Murn, the main love is for a beautiful but cold girl who does not reciprocate his feelings. Her beauty is compared to that of nature, which Murn admired from a young age.
