In my master's thesis, I examine the eye tracking method, which in Slovenia is quite common
within the fields of marketing and design, but significantly less so in the field of humanities,
particularly in art history. Based on studies conducted in other countries where eye tracking is
used as one of the possible empirical approaches to researching art historical questions, I
outline the conceptual and theoretical framework for using this method, as well as critically
evaluate its potential and limitations. The aim of this thesis is to propose a theoretical
foundation as a starting point for empirical research in art history in Slovenia.
