Abstract
Tetrakarbonil molibdenove koordinacijske zvrsti z derivati 2,2'-bipiridina so zanimivo področje raziskovanja zaradi sposobnosti elektrokatalitske redukcije CO$_2$. V tem magistrskem delu sem poskusila sintetizirati in karakterizirati dve seriji produktov. Prvo s pirimidin-2-tioni in drugo z njihovimi metiliranimi analogi 2-(metiltio)pirimidini. Zaradi nestabilnosti produktov pod vplivom svetlobe, monokristalov spojin nisem uspela pripraviti, zato najbolj nedvoumna metoda za potrditev predpostavk o sestavi nastalih spojin, to je rentgenska difrakcija na monokristalu in določitev kristalne strukture, ni bila izvedena. Sem pa uspela pripraviti monokristal enega izmed ligandov, katerega struktura še ni bila določena, struktura je vključena v nalogo. V nalogi so predstavljeni rezultati jedrske magnetne resonance, vibracijske infrardeče spektroskopije in elektronske spektroskopije za produkte vseh reakcij. Rezultati analiz so potrdili hipotezo, da so produkti z metiliranimi ligandi stabilnejši. Masni spektri visoke ločljivosti so bili posneti le v primeru najbolj stabilnih produktov obeh serij.

Title:Synthesis of molybdenum complexes with pyrimidine-2-thiones and 2-(methylthio)pyrimidines
Abstract:
Tetracarbonyl molybdenum coordination complexes with 2,2'-bipyridine derivatives represent a compelling area of research due to their potential for electrocatalytic CO$_2$ reduction. In this master's thesis, I attempted to synthesize and characterize two series of products. The first with pyrimidine-2-thiones and the second with their methylated analogues 2-(methylthio)pyrimidines. Due to the instability of the products under the influence of light, I was unable to prepare single crystals of the compounds, therefore the best unambiguous method for confirming the predictions about the composition of the resulting compounds, i.e. X-ray diffraction on a single crystal and determination of the crystal structure, was not performed. However, I managed to prepare a single crystal of one of the ligands, the structure of which has not yet been determined, the structure is included in the presented master's thesis. The thesis also presents the results of nuclear magnetic resonance, vibrational infrared spectroscopy, and electronic spectroscopy for the products of all reactions. The results of the analyses confirmed the hypothesis that products with methylated ligands are more stable. High-resolution mass spectra were recorded only for the most stable products of both series.
