This thesis presents a conceptual solution for the design of an audio system for the smaller and more compact broadcast vehicle with an emphasis on mobility, usability, and hybrid use with the help of AES67, AES50, AES-EBU protocols, and classic analog connections. Initially, an overview of broadcast vehicles and field transmissions is provided, followed by the types of broadcasted events. The requisite standards for equipment connectivity are then enumerated. Subsequently, RTV Slovenia’s broadcast vehicles (radio and television) are described, along with the primary components of the audio system within the broadcast vehicle, including the audio mixing console, control systems, patch panels and distribution, signal processing units, microphones, and additional essential broadcast equipment.
A practical section follows, introducing the design and developement of a concept of manufacturing an audio system in a reporting vehicle using modern IP technologies. In this section there is also presented installation of equipment to the OB van in the form of a floor plan. I focused on the integration of Dante, NDI, and AES67 protocols, which enable reliable, high-quality, and scalable audio transmission over networks. Recommendations are presented via a block diagram. Due to the spatial constraints within the audio compartment, meticulous consideration was given to dimensions when selecting the mixing console to ensure a precise fit. Spatial limitations for audio equipment were further categorized into load capacity and power supply constraints. Subsequently, the minimum system requirements are elaborated upon, and the thesis concludes with a foundational calculation of the equipment’s power consumption.
