Abstract

Title:The experiences and perspectives of participants on the Utrip group therapy
Abstract:
In our master's thesis, we investigated how participants in Utrip group therapy describe and experience their experiences and observed changes. In the theoretical part, we presented the concept of psychological and physical well-being and introduced Utrip group therapy and its theoretical foundations. In the empirical part, the aim was to use a qualitative method of thematic analysis to investigate how participants in Utrip Group Therapy experience their experiences and observed changes. A total of nine participants took part in the study, ranging in age from 25 to 60 years. The sample consisted of six women and three men. Thematic analysis revealed five main themes. The first theme, group dynamics and support, covered the importance of the role of the group and the support and guidance of therapists. The theme of body and heart experience covered the experiences of listening to the heartbeat and body awareness. The theme of emotional experience referred to pleasant emotions, acceptance and regulation of emotions, and coping with more stressful emotional content. The theme of the individual's inner process highlighted the importance of meditative texts, spiritual experiences, and the participants' independent work. The last theme, internal shifts of the individual, included cognitive insights, the experience of authenticity, acceptance and self-care, positive evaluation of the process, and recognition of the limitations of change. The research indicates that Utrip group therapy represents a comprehensive therapeutic approach that provides individuals with an in-depth personal and social experience, intertwining physical and emotional experiences, internal processes, and group dynamics.
