In the modern digital landscape, cyberattacks are becoming one of the most important threats to individuals, companies and countries. With the increasing global dependence on information technology, the vulnerability of digital infrastructure to malicious activities is also increasing. Cyberattacks represent a complex and fluid challenge that requires effective and coordinated responses from both the public and private sectors. Countries are also increasingly aware of this, recognizing cyberthreats as a threat to national security. Countries are therefore devoting more and more attention and resources to information security, which is becoming an increasingly important component of the broader national security system, and crisis management and leadership systems are also adapting to new forms of threats and crises. In 2019, Slovenia was surprised by a cyberattack with a crypto virus on the Ljubljana Pharmacy. It was the first publicly known attack of this type and scale in our country, which was carried out against an organization or institution, the consequences of which were also directly felt by the general public. On the one hand, this case draws attention to the consequences of the increasing dependence of social functioning on information communication technology, and on the other hand, it provides us with insight into well-executed crisis management and leadership from the perspective of the Ljubljana Pharmacy as a reference facility.
