Abstract
Nasprotno pravilno izvedeni detajli omogočajo učinkovito izsuševanje in stabilne razmere v konstrukciji.

Title:Influence of construction details on wood moisture in wooden constructions
Abstract:
This master’s thesis investigates the influence of construction details on wood moisture in modern timber buildings. The main objective of the research was to determine how different design solutions – particularly at junctions between structural elements – affect moisture accumulation in wood construction and thus impact the long-term durability of the structure. The analysis focused on details where moisture problems commonly occur in practice, such as the plinth area, roof edges, window connections and façade penetrations. Based on construction cross-sections and using the Ubakus simulation tool, diffusion moisture transfer was assessed across various material layers. The results show that details lacking proper vapour barriers, airtight layers or ventilation cavities lead to significant moisture accumulation, where relative humidity levels exceed 80%, indicating an increased risk of condensation and fungal growth. In contrast, well-executed detailing ensures sufficient drying capacity and stable internal conditions. The findings served as the basis for a set of recommendations aimed at improving the design of key construction details to enhance the durability and reliability of timber buildings in the long term.
