Kemotaksični odziv parazitskih ogorčic (Rhabditidae) na izbrane sekundarne metabolite križnic (Brassicaceae)

Abstract
Parazitske ogorčice so ključni organizmi v talnih ekosistemih, saj uravnavajo številčnost škodljivcev in prispevajo k trajnostnem kmetijstvu. V raziskavi smo preučevali kemotaksični odziv treh parazitskih ogorčic Phasmarhabditis papillosa, Oscheius myriophilus in Oscheius onirici, na hlapne organske spojine (HOS), ki jih sproščajo korenine rastlin iz družine križnic pod vplivom napada ličink kapusove muhe (Delia radicum). Obravnavali smo pet HOS (dimetil sulfid, dimetil disulfid, alil izocianat, fenietil izotiocianat in benzonitril) pri dveh koncentracijah (čista snov in 0,03 ppm) ter pri dveh temperaturah (18 °C in 22 °C). Rezultati so pokazali, da sta HOS in temperatura pomembno vplivala na odzivnost ogorčic, medtem ko sta vrsta ogorčice in koncentracija HOS imeli manjši vpliv. Benzonitril se je izkazal kot močan atraktant, zlasti za ogorčici O. myriophilus in O. Onirici, medtem ko se je alil izotiocianat izkazal kot repelent z močnim nematicidnim učinkom, saj je povzročal smrtnost ogorčic. Dimetil sulfid in dimetil disulfid sta povzročila zmerne do močne kemotaksične odzive, ki so bili odvisni od vrste ogorčice in temperature. Raziskava poudarja pomen vključevanja kemijskih signalov za zatiranja škodljivcev in s tem zmanjšanje uporabe kemičnih fitofarmacevtskih sredstev. Na ta način bi lahko prispevali k izboljšanju trajnostnega kmetijstva.

Title:Chemotactic response od parasitic nematodes (Rhabditidae) to selected secondary metabolites od crucifers (Brassicaceae)
Abstract:
Parasitic nematodes are key organisms in soil ecosystems, as they regulate pest populations and contribute to sustainable agriculture. In this study, we examined the chemotactic reponse od three parasitic nematodes Phasmarhabditis papillosa, Oscheius myriophilus and Oscheius onirici to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released by Brassicaceae roots under the influence of Delia radicum larvae infestation. We investigated five VOCs (dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, allyl isothiocyanate, phenethyl isothiocyanate and benzonitrule) at two concentrations (pure substance and 0,03 ppm) and two temperatures (18°C and 22°C). The results showed that VOCs and temperature significantly affected nematode responsiveness, whereas nematode species and VOC concentration had a lesser impac. Benzonitrile proved to be a strong attractant, particularly for O. myriophilus and O. onirici. In contrast, allyl isothiocyanate acted as a repellent with strong nematicidal effects, causing mortality and reduced motility in nematodes. Dimethyl sulfide and dimethyl disulfide elicited moderate to strong chemotactic responses, which varied depending on nematode spices and temperature. The significance of this study lies in the finding that benzonitrile could be used to attract beneficial nematodes for biological pest control, while allyl isothiocyanate shows the importance of integrating chemical signaling in pest control strategies to reduce the use od chemical pesticides, thereby contributing to the advancement of sustainable agriculture.
