Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava stranske dramske osebe v Cankarjevi drami Hlapci.

Title:The Role of Secondary Dramatic Characters in Cankar’s plav The Lackeys
Abstract:
This undergraduate thesis examines the secondary characters in Ivan Cankar’s play The Lackeys. The first part presents the classification of dramatic characters and their placement within the actantial model according to Anne Ubersfeld, which provides a basic overview of the dramatic structure. In the following section, individual secondary characters are analyzed in more detail—first those connected with Jerman’s public activity, and then those related to his private life. The analysis shows that the secondary characters embody different life principles, according to which they respond to social circumstances and influence the course of the play. Moreover, through them various forms of social critique are expressed in the work. The concluding section presents two levels of servitude (of the lackeys?) showing how they are manifested in the play and through which characters they are conveyed.
