Education represents one of the most important factors of social mobility and plays a key role in reducing social inequality, particulary for marginalized groups such as the Roma community. Despite cosntitutional guaranteed equal access to education, the Roma community in Slovenia continues to face low levels of education attainment, high dropout rates and lomited participation in further education. These phenomena are the results of a complex interplay of structural factors such as social exclusion, poverty and systematic prejudice along with familial and cultural influences taht often hinder Roma children's succesful integration into the school system. This thesis consists og a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical section outlines the concepts of social mobility, education as a tool for achieving equal oppurtunities and the influence of fanily environment and Roma culture on educational outcomes. It also examines examples of effective programs and policies that support the inclusion of Roma children in the educatinal process. The empirical part is based on semi-structured interviews with teachers and Roma students, focusing on their experiences with education, the barriers they encounter and the approaches they perceive as most effective. The aim of the thesis is to highliht the role of the education system in breaking the cycle of marginalization and social exclusion of the Roma communityand tho emphasize the need for systematic, long-term and culturally sensitive measures that ensure equal educational oppurtunities of all children, regrdless of their ethical and social backround.
