The thesis examines the influence of online content and the phenomenon of so-called manfluencers on the conceptualization of gender among young men in Slovenia. The theoretical framework is based on several influential anthropological and sociological works that are essential for the study and understanding of gender. The empirical part of the research consists of a content and visual analysis of videos from the contemporary or neo-manosphere and an analysis of material collected through semi-structured interviews. The analysis derives from the broader phenomenon of the manosphere, which, through social media, reproduces patriarchal ideas often associated with anti-feminism and essentialist understandings of gender roles. The research confirms that online content plays an important role in shaping representations of gender, masculinity, and gender relations, highlighting key factors that co-shape the individual’s capacity for critical reflection and recognizing the diversity of articulated positions.
