My diploma thesis, entitled The intertwining of eyes and memory, explores memory as an emotional, physical and interpersonal experience through an art installation based on the projections of friends’ eyes. The eyes function as “emotional portals”, serving as a connection between the personal and the collective, the inner and the outer world. The installation offers the viewer an introspective experience and opens up a space for reflection, empathy and connection with their own memories. The theoretical part is grounded in contemporary findings in neuroscience, psychology and the philosophy of vision, with particular emphasis on the role of emotions and relationships in the shaping of memory. The artistic process becomes a therapeutic space in which memory is not static but alive, fragmented and embodied. The painting of eyes reveals the power of art as a space for emotional processing, connection and the preservation of identity.
