In my thesis, I analyze and reflect on my own artworks created during my undergraduate studies through the theoretical framework of the emotion of disgust. I explore the concept of disgust using Robert Gober’s artwork Short Haired Cheese as a reference point, while drawing on various theories of disgust. I examine the relationship between disgust and the aesthetic, as well as its presence, absence, and role within my own artistic process. I focus on the representation or presentation of disgust in my works, and the connection between the emotion of disgust and drawing – the line – investigating how the process of confronting disgust is reflected through the formal aspects of the artwork.
