The thesis describes the upgrade of a calendering production line. The upgrade
consists of both mechanical renovation and a program upgrade. More specifically
the upgrade appylies to rubber sheet cutting knives. The old, worn equipment
made precise setup impossible, leading to significant material waste. Instead of
simple renovation, we decided to upgrade the system. New construction allows for
motorized movement of each knife carrier individually, where the old construction
allowed only for joined movement of all the carriers. We also incrised the number
of carriers from four to six. Within this thesis, the primary focus will be on
the software aspect of the upgrade, the deployment and further updates. The
program is written as add-on module to existing program of the production line,
written in program package STEP7.
