This master’s thesis examines the musical as a music-theatre work that brings together singing, dancing, and acting in an interdisciplinary way, allowing for stage or film production. The theoretical introduction presents definitions of the musical according to various authors, its key elements, and the conditions necessary for a successful performance. The research also explores the historical development of musical theatre works from antiquity to the 21st century, highlighting the factors that influenced the emergence and evolution of the musical. The central part of the thesis presents the original project Muzikal Odraščanje, based on a script written by a student of the Gimnazija Celje – Center. The author of the thesis participated as co-composer of the music, led vocal rehearsals, and assisted with the technical implementation of the project. The work demonstrates how such an interdisciplinary project can be realised in a secondary school setting and analyses challenges (intonation, rhythm, interpretation) faced by the students. The educational aims and benefits for the participating students are also discussed. Six original arrangements are analysed in detail, focusing on their form, motifs, harmonic structure, orchestration, and arrangement design, as well as how they engage the listener. The importance of the backing track (music matrix) is explained, alongside a description of the rehearsal process — from auditions to the final performance.
