Abstract
V raziskavi smo uporabili dve vrsti epoksidnih smol (Crystalres in Aquares) ter štiri pigmente različnih barv (bela, črna, oranžna, roza) v koncentracijah 0,5 %, 1 %, 2 % in 3 %.

Title:Use of pigments in epoxy fillings and surface treatment of wood-plastic composite
Abstract:
In modern industry and commerce, increasing attention is being paid to the aesthetics of products in addition to their functionality. Notable trends include epoxy resins, which are known for their extraordinarily wide range of applications. The aim of this work was to determine the minimum pigment concentration required to achieve satisfactory opacity of an epoxy resin casting, and to investigate whether an additional surface treatment can achieve a uniform and aesthetically pleasing surface appearance. In the study, two types of epoxy resins (Crystalres and Aquares) were used together with four different coloured pigments (white, black, orange and pink) at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 3%. The results showed that the quality of the resin mixture and curing depends not only on the type and concentration of the pigment, but also on the type of resin itself. By measuring colours on white and black substrates and calculating colour differences, we were able to prove that the opacity of an epoxy resin casting is strongly influenced not only by the concentration, but also by the type of pigment used. The subsequent surface treatment of the epoxy casts did not pose any major difficulties; however, a uniform visual appearance was only achieved with a water-based varnish, which had weaker adhesion. The resistance test against cold liquids confirmed that surface protection of the epoxy resin casting is essential, as this is the only way to effectively overcome its otherwise low resistance.
