This thesis addresses the challenge of adaptability in hotel and apartment management, where existing PMS (Property Management System) solutions often do not deliver what users actually need – they fail to support specific processes and required customizations. We therefore examine and substantiate an approach that enables modular addition and modification of functionality without interfering with already functioning parts of the system. Within the theoretical framework, we compare monolithic architecture and microservices and justify a hybrid, modular solution as a practical compromise for small teams and local environments. Practical validation is carried out on core processes and through an experiment that adds a non-trivial capability – dynamic pricing – as a separate module with clear interfaces and its own configuration; in doing so, existing flows and contract-based interfaces remain unchanged. The thesis thus also serves as a foundational reference for designing adaptable information systems, where the evolution of functionality is a key requirement.
