Abstract
Merjenje tlaka v zgorevalnem prostoru motorjev z notranjim zgorevanjem je ključno za 0D termodinamsko analizo, vendar piezoelektrična zaznavala zaznajo le relativne spremembe tlaka, ne absolutnih vrednosti. Poleg tega se lahko zaradi kinematike bata, ki je med drugim odvisna od lastnosti obratovalne točke motorja, pojavi zamik med merjenim in dejanskim položajem zgornje mrtve lege (ZML) bata. Za natančno analizo zgorevanja je zato potrebno ustrezno prilagoditi tlačno sled pred uporabo v termodinamskih analizah. V nalogi smo pregledali obstoječe metode in za nadaljnji razvoj izbrali analizo hitrosti sproščanja toplote (ROHR) za določanje tlačnega zamika ter politropno metodo za določanje zamika ZML bata. Obe metodi smo implementirali v programskem jeziku Python in validirali na tlačnih sledeh dizelskega motorja. Razvit je bil iterativni model, ki omogoča določanje obeh zamikov. Rezultati kažejo, da model pri manjših zamikih absolutnega tlaka in ZML bata doseže visoko natančnost po 2-3 iteracijah, pri večjih zamikih pa je potrebno število iteracij povečati.

Title:Development of a method for determining the pressure and top dead centre offsets in internal combustion engines
Abstract:
Measuring pressure in the combustion chamber of internal combustion engines is crucial for 0D thermodynamic analysis. However, piezoelectric sensors only detect relative pressure changes, not absolute values. In addition, due to piston kinematics—which depend, among other things, on the operating point of the engine—a shift may occur between the measured and actual top dead center (TDC) position of the piston. For accurate combustion analysis, it is therefore necessary to appropriately adjust the pressure trace before using it in thermodynamic analyses. In this work, we reviewed existing methods and, for further development, selected the rate of heat release (ROHR) analysis to determine the pressure offset and the polytropic method to determine the TDC offset. Both methods were implemented in Python and validated on pressure traces of a diesel engine. An iterative model was developed that enables the determination of both offsets. The results show that the model achieves high accuracy after 2-3 iterations for small offsets of absolute pressure and TDC, while a higher number of iterations is required for larger offsets.
