Abstract
V nadaljevanju so bili raziskani vloga gibanja med skeniranjem, uporaba različnih materialov (plastična folija, voda, tkanine, osebni predmeti) in učinki zunanje svetlobe.

Title:Scanning as Photographic Technique
Abstract:
In this thesis, the use of a flatbed scanner as a creative tool in the process of making portrait photography is explored. The research aimed to test whether this technical device could go beyond its usual reproductive function and offer aesthetic potential within contemporary visual practices. The experimental part is focused on a set of experiments, divided into several sections. The first section analysed the impact of resolution on image sharpness, detail rendering, and overall visual effect. Further sections investigated the influence of motion during scanning, the use of various materials (plastic foil, water, textiles, personal objects), and the role of external light. A basic home-use device (HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 5075) was used, which added practical value to the study. The results showed that due to its limited depth of field and slow image capturing, we can produce images that are distinctly different from traditional photography. Distortions, layering, shadows, and textures proved to be powerful expressive tools. It was also found that light, resolution, and movement directly influence both the visual and emotional qualities of a portrait. The research confirmed that the scanner can be used to create visually and conceptually rich portraits while also challenging and expanding the definition of photography as an artistic medium. The hypothesis that a scanner could serve as an artistic tool was fully confirmed.
