The subject of the thesis is a review of mechanical changes (stresses and displacements) in the longitudinal direction in rails, which arise as a result of the influence of temperature changes, and the presentation and application of a model for calculation using an example in one of the climatic regions in Slovenia. The difference between the air temperature and the rail temperature at higher temperatures is also taken into account, as the rail (due to the sun) can heat up to a much higher temperature than the ambient air temperature. The procedure for calculating the limit stresses and corresponding deformations in rails is explained and performed. The behavior of the rail during repeated temperature changes is also shown, visually illustrating the effect of temperature changes on the behavior of the rail in the longitudinal direction.
