Abstract
Vsak vodotok premešča plavine vzdolž toka. Glede na način transporta ločimo rinjene in lebdeče plavine.

Title:Analysis of sediment transport in the Kamniška Bistrica river catchment
Abstract:
All rivers transport sediments downstream. Based on how the sediment is transported, we distinguish between bed load and suspended load. River erosion is a continuous natural process, and understanding it is essential for the effective river management. This thesis focuses on determining the concentration of suspended sediments in the Kamniška Bistrica River and its tributary, the Nevljica. The study aimed to analyze the influence of discharge and precipitation on the concentration of suspended sediment and assess their interdependence. Using the obtained correlations—separately for each stream section—we estimated the suspended sediment load transported by the streams over a selected time period. The correlation between discharge and suspended sediments was generally quite strong. However, the correlation between precipitation and suspended sediment concentration was significantly weaker. We estimated an annual sediment balance for the years 2019–2024, with 2023 standing out as particularly high. Within the Kamniška Bistrica catchment area, we identified zones of erosion and sediment deposition during the August 2023 flood event. Using QGIS, we quantified the mass of eroded and deposited material. We then compared these estimates with the mass of suspended sediments derived from measured flood discharges and the correlation equation established in a prior analysis.
