The thesis deals with fatigue management in professional truck drivers as an important factor in road safety. It presents the workload that professional drivers face on a daily basis in the course of their work, the factors influencing fatigue itself and the impact of fatigue on road safety. The main part of the thesis focuses on the elements of fatigue management and which legislative and technical regulations control the work of professional drivers.
Infrastructure also plays a major role in fatigue. The thesis discusses in detail the infrastructure of Slovenian motorway rest areas, the lack of adequate facilities, which
often leads to overstaying, and the importance and purpose of safe and secure parking areas, which allow drivers to rest without disturbance.
In the final part of the thesis, a survey is carried out among lorry drivers in selected transport companies. The survey provided information on the perception of fatigue, the causes of fatigue, its management and the working conditions and support drivers receive from their employers.
