The thesis presents a complex of shrines found on Mariborska Road in Celje between 2003 and 2004. It is located on the left bank of the former northern channel of the Savinja River. The origins of the complex date back to the 1st century BC, when the Celts are believed to have started using the site. The thesis focuses on Temple II and its interpretation, whether it is a Gallo-Roman temple or funerary architecture. For the purposes of interpretation, the capital belonging to Temple II is analyzed, and the characteristics of Roman sepulchral and sacred architecture are presented in a comparative context with the temple in question. The aim of the paper is to shed light on the various interpretations of the structure and to stimulate further debate.
