The thesis addresses the design and implementation of an automated system using a programmable logic controller (PLC) from Inovance. The main objective of the work is to develop a functioning simulation of an automated sorting system that, with the help of sensors, motor drives, and a camera, sorts workpieces based on selected characteristics. For the purpose of this project, various coins were used as workpieces, which the system sorts according to their value.
The system successfully simulates the operation of a simple automated sorting system, confirming the suitability of Inovance’s PLC for use in smaller automation projects. The controller has proven to be a more cost-effective solution compared to competing products while providing equivalent performance. The thesis concludes with findings on the efficiency of the implementation, suggestions for improvements, and possibilities for system upgrades.
