In this work, we will examine in more detail the influence of moisture on transformers and the chemical processes that occur in its presence during transformer operation. We will also describe non-invasive methods for measuring moisture in transformers, which are based on dielectric response measurements. The work culminates in the calculation of the dew point for newly manufactured transformers using known equations and data obtained during oven drying and dielectric response measurements with the Omicron Dirana instrument. Finally, the accuracy of the dew point calculation methods is assessed and compared. Based on results, we conclude that the considered methods have certain limitations when it comes to estimating the dew point.
