Corruption represents a significant problem in modern times across various sectors. One of the areas where it frequently occurs is public procurement. This thesis provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of corruption on the efficiency and transparency of processes and the financial consequences. It also presents specific examples of corruption in public procurement. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in the thesis. The methodology primarily included a review of existing literature, followed by case studies to enhance understanding of the topic. The research found that corruption significantly affects public procurement, seriously undermining the efficiency of the public sector. Preventive measures that are implemented to reduce the occurrence of corruption in public procurement were also examined. It was found that existing mechanisms to prevent corruption are often ineffective, mainly due to a lack of control and transparency. The usefulness of this thesis lies in the set of recommendations provided to improve systems for preventing corruption.
