Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava razvoj in uporabo orodja Dumpatron, ki je namenjeno varnostnemu kopiranju in obnovi podatkovnih baz, specifično za Oracle, MySQL in MariaDB. Glavni cilj naloge je poenostavitev sicer kompleksnih postopkov arhiviranja podatkov in njihovo obnovo v primeru izgube ali poškodbe. Orodje je razvito kot samostojna aplikacija, ki omogoča uporabo prek grafičnega in ukaznega vmesnika, ter vključuje možnosti časovnega načrtovanja, obveščanja in enostavne konfiguracije. V nalogi so podrobno analizirane različne metode izvoza in uvoza podatkov, upravljanje z metapodatki ter varnostne prakse. Rezultat je robustno in prenosljivo orodje, ki ponuja zanesljivo rešitev za upravljanje varnostnih kopij v profesionalnem okolju.

Title:Development and use of a database backup and recovery tool
Abstract:
This thesis presents the design, development, and implementation of Dumpatron, a tool for the backup and restoration of databases, supporting Oracle, MySQL, and MariaDB systems. The main goal is to simplify complex backup procedures and provide a reliable and user-friendly solution for disaster recovery scenarios. The tool is built with both graphical and command-line interfaces, offering scheduling capabilities, notifications, and easy configuration. The thesis explores different export and import strategies, metadata handling, and secure backup management. The final result is a portable and efficient solution for professional database environments requiring consistency, reliability, and simplicity in backup operations.
