Abstract
Težke kovine so pogosto prisotne v odpadnih vodah in imajo za človeka negativne učinke, zato so nujne raziskave na področju odstranjevanja težkih kovin iz vode. Med metodami je zanimivejša adsorpcija, saj zaradi svoje visoke kapacitivnosti adsorbentov in nizkih stroškov uporabe zelo priročna. V diplomskem delu sem predstavil hidrogele kot dobre adsorbente in njihovo sintezo, ki omogoča vezavo specifičnih funkcionalnih skupin za vezavo težkih kovin. Ravnotežje adsorpcije nam služi za poznavanje ravnotežne adsorpcijske kapacitete, hkrati pa nam različni modeli adsorpcijske izoterme služijo tudi za prepoznavanje karakteristik procesa. V ta namen so bili predstavljeni najbolj uporabljeni izotermni modeli. Poznavanje kinetike nam služi za določanje limitnega koraka v procesu, kar nam omogoča optimiziranje procesa. V delu so bili predstavljeni tudi različni kinetični model, vključno s kombiniranim modelom, ki upošteva tako difuzijo znotraj por kot tudi reakcijo adsorpcije. Ta se kljub nekaterim omejitvam kaže kot dobra pridobitev za napovedovanje adsorpcijske kinetike.

Title:Removal of heavy metals from wastewater with adsorption on hydrogels
Abstract:
Heavy metals are often present in wastewater and have negative effects on human health, which is why research on the removal of heavy metals from water is essential. Among the various methods, adsorption is particularly interesting due to its high adsorption capacity and low operational cost. In this thesis, I explained the various properties and synthesis methods of hydrogels, as synthesis design allows the incorporation of specific functional groups responsible for binding heavy metals. Adsorption equilibrium is used to determine the equilibrium adsorption capacity and different adsorption isotherm models help identify the characteristics of the process. For this purpose, the most commonly used isotherm models were presented. Understanding kinetics is essential for identifying the rate-limiting step in the process, which enables process optimization. The work also presents different models, including a combined model that accounts for both intraparticle diffusion and the adsorption reaction. Despite some limitations, it's a valuable tool for predicting adsorption kinetics.
