In the first part of the master's thesis, an overview of global initiatives and efforts to implement sustainable mobility is presented. Various strategies, initiatives, and best practices from countries around the world are described. The challenges of sustainable mobility planning in smaller municipalities are also addressed. Smaller municipalities often face significant difficulties due to limited financial resources, dispersed geographic areas, poor connectivity, and a lack of cooperation with neighboring municipalities. To this end, examples of good practices from smaller municipalities dealing with similar issues as the Municipality of Šentjernej are presented. The second part introduces the Integrated Transport Strategy, illustrated through the case of the Municipality of Šentjernej, incorporating relevant international best practice examples. In order to ensure that the strategy is as realistic as possible, key strategic challenges and opportunities were identified based on public opinion gathered specifically for the needs of the Municipality of Šentjernej. Based on these strategic challenges, time-bound and measurable objectives were developed to meet the municipality’s needs. Some of these objectives are further explained and discussed in detail.
