Introduction: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of upper and lower motor neurons, resulting in muscle atrophy, decreased muscle strength, difficulties in speech, swallowing and breathing. The most common cause of death is respiratory muscle failure, leading to suffocation. Since the cure for the disease has not yet been found, it is crucial to focus on symptomatic treatment and strive to improve quality of life. Occupational therapists, are important members of a multidisciplinary tim. Purpose: The aim of this study was to collect data on the quality of life of individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and, through a systematic literature review, determine which occupational therapy interventions can improve their quality of life. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using English keywords combined with Boolean operators AND and OR and various text filters. The literature search was performed in March 2025 across three databases: EBSCOhost, Web of Science, and PubMed. Results: In seven artickles we evaluated the quality of the selected articles using the Joanna Briggs Institute appraisal tools. A descriptive and thematic analysis was conducted, which led to the identification of four main themes: medical devices, environmental adaptations, physical activity and energy conservation, and palliative care. Discussion and Conclusion: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a rapidly progressing disease that presents numerous challenges in performing daily activities and occupations. Occupational therapists, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, play a crucial role in enhancing patients quality of life by advising the use of medical aids, with implementation of user oriented interventions, adaptation of living enviroment, and promoting energy conservation strategies tailored to disease progression.
