The master’s thesis briefly outlines the historical and present-day status and use of the Slovene language in Carinthia, Austria, supported by the author’s own fieldwork experiences. The thesis includes transcribed and phonologically annotated dialect texts, as well as (older) vocabulary from Slovene dialects spoken in Austrian Carinthia. The texts originate from three dialects of the Rož (Rosental) subdialect—Radiše (Radsberg), Bilčovs (Ludmannsdorf), and Moščenica (Moschenitzen)—and one dialect of the Zilja (Gailtal) subdialect—Zahomec (Achomitz). The core of the thesis comprises recordings, transcriptions, and phonetic annotations of the texts, prepared for inclusion in the Interactive Map of Slovene Dialect Texts (Interaktivne karte slovenskih narečnih besedil – IKNB), an online platform for dialect materials. In addition, the vocabulary from the following semantic fields in Radiše (Radsberg) is collected for the Slovene Linguistic Atlas (Slovenski lingvistični atlas – SLA): V. Holidays (212–265), VII. Animals (327–390), VIII. Plants (391–452), XI. Time (502A–546), and XII. Landscape (547–603). The conclusion includes a comparison of five lexemes from different locations in the region and those found in the SLA.
