The purpose of the thesis is to develop a functional system for SMS-based control of an air conditioning unit located in a remote, rural area, where there is limited internet access or very poor online connectivity, but a GSM signal is still available, and an electrical power supply is ensured. This led to the idea of creating an air conditioner control system via SMS commands.
With a sent SMS message, a command is sent to a SIM800l module which is connected through serial connection to an ESP32 microcontroller. The microcontroller processes, interprets and then forwards the command to a MAC-334IF-E interface which communicates with a Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning unit. In this way we control the device without an internet connection. Remote control of the air conditioning unit increases user comfort, as it enables management of the device from virtually anywhere, without having to visit the location in person. This saves both time and travel expenses.
The solution enables basic control of the air conditioning system, including turning it on or off and selecting the operating mode (heating or cooling).
