The laminating process is the process of gluing a custom-printed label to the outer surface of a spirally wound cardboard tube and cutting the tube to the desired length. These two steps are typically performed with pneumatic actuators. Such an implementation is not optimal from several aspects. With the aim of increasing productivity and operational precision, two pneumatic cylinders were replaced with servo actuators on the existing laminating machine. The first servo actuator performs the function of pressing the pressure roller onto the laminating roller, while the second executes the cutting motion. The introduction of servo technology has improved the stability of the laminating process and increased the cutting accuracy. At the same time, better synchronization of movements and higher responsiveness have shortened the cycle time, thereby increasing the machine’s productivity.
