In my thesis, I focused on the quality of work life among employees at the crisis center for children Palček. The topic is close to me, as I completed my field placement at this organization and was interested in how the employees perceive their work – in terms of working conditions, interpersonal relationships, workload, and opportunities for personal and professional development. As a theoretical framework, I applied Allardt’s model of human needs (to have, to love, to be), which I connected with contemporary perspectives on job satisfaction, burnout, psychological well-being, and the work-life balance. In the empirical part, I conducted a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews to gather insights from employees. I analyzed the data through open and axial coding, which enabled me to identify key themes and recurring patterns. The results showed that employees consider positive relationships in the team, a sense of purpose in their work, feelings of safety, flexibility, and opportunities for personal growth as the most important elements of quality work life. They also actively contribute to a positive work atmosphere, although many pointed out the need for improved working conditions and better access to professional training. My research shows that in this specific context, the quality of work life is strongly linked to interpersonal relationships, a sense of meaning, and team support, which can serve as a foundation for further improvements both at the organizational level and within the social work profession.
