The diploma thesis titled A Comparative Analysis of Male and Female Characters in Selected Picture Books is divided into three parts. The first part includes a theoretical definition of children's literature, picture books, illustration, gender roles, and the importance of reading. The second part presents the authors and illustrators of the selected works, while the third, empirical part contains an analysis of the chosen literary works.
The aim of the diploma thesis was to explore how the image of the child has changed over time and what gender roles male and female characters assume in the selected literary works.
