Throughout the last few decades, our lifestyle has been heavily influenced by digital transformation, whether on a personal or business level, and so, along with it, have changed the residents’ expectations regarding the provision of public services. The people expect simple and comprehensive public services, which are expected to be increasingly digitalized. For this purpose, we have decided to find out if the services for acquiring and renewing the driver’s license meet user expectations.
In order to achieve our goal, we used the descriptive method as well as the methods of synthesis and compilation. For the empirical part of the research, our main method was a qualitative approach - a questionnaire.
During our research, we established that Slovenia is actively following the goals of streamlining procedures set by the EU. In addition, we determined that both processes of acquiring and renewing the driver’s license, are not entirely digitalized, so it would be prudent to update them through the use of information technology.
The gathered results of our research serve as a foundation for the reduction of administrative barriers in the process of acquiring a driver’s license and in the process of renewing a driver’s license for novice drivers. Overhauling and digitizing both processes, in the parts where that is not already the case, would yield significant benefits for residents. It would be reasonable to evaluate the outcomes of our overhaul and digitalization 4-6 years after implementation.
