The master thesis focuses on the optimisation of the warehousing process in the customs warehouse of Intereuropa d.d. in Koper, Slovenia, with the aim of increasing efficiency and streamlining operations. The fundamental research question pertains to the utilisation of innovative technologies and contemporary methodologies within the context of warehousing operations. The question is addressed through a discourse on contemporary technologies and methodologies for warehouse process management, complemented by a SWOT analysis of the comprehensive warehousing process within Intereuropa's customs warehouse in Koper.
The study's conclusion asserts that the company is not fully leveraging the potential of modern warehousing technologies. Nevertheless, it is acknowledged that the existing system, despite its limitations, harbours significant scope for enhancement without the necessity of complete automation. In order to enhance the efficiency of the warehousing process, it is proposed to implement lean methods, document digitalisation and partial automation of specific processes.
The introduction of contemporary solutions in a methodical and incremental manner, whilst preserving malleability and cost-effectiveness, has the potential to facilitate the modernisation of Intereuropa's customs warehouse in Koper. This transformation is predicated on the experiential acumen of its personnel and the implementation of sophisticated technological methodologies. It is imperative for the warehouse to adopt this approach in order to maintain its competitive edge and effectively adapt to the rapid changes and demands of the contemporary logistics environment.
