Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava vpliv zahodne medicine na tradicionalno kitajsko medicino (TKM) od njunega prvega srečanja v poznem 19. stoletju do sodobnega časa. Skozi analizo zgodovinskih virov, akademskih člankov in političnih dokumentov naloga raziskuje, kako je TKM pod vplivom zahodnih medicinskih pristopov doživela marginalizacijo, a tudi prenovo in institucionalno integracijo v sodoben kitajski zdravstveni sistem.

Title:The historical process and problems of integrating Western medicine into traditional Chinese medicine
Abstract:
This thesis explores the impact of Western medicine on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the late 19th century to the present day. Through an analysis of historical sources, academic articles, and policy documents, the study reveals how TCM experienced marginalization under Western influence but also underwent reform and institutional integration into the modern Chinese healthcare system. Particular attention is paid to the hybridization of the two systems, with a critical focus on the risk of losing TCM’s philosophical foundations amid global medical standardization. The thesis emphasizes the importance of preserving culturally specific knowledge and recognizing TCM’s epistemological framework as an equally valid medical tradition.
