Inefficient business processes reduce an organization's competitiveness in the marketplace. This requires organizations to manage their business processes, identify inefficient processes, and redesign them to better adapt to changes. Analysis and modelling can help them to do this. The thesis aims to examine the business process of buying and selling goods (more specifically, fruit and vegetables), which takes place in the business unit of the Kmetijsko gozdarska zadruga Sloga Kranj z. o. o. – Purchase of vegetables. By the analysis, we aim to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current process and propose improvements.
The research methodology includes a detailed analysis of the business process from the receipt of the order to the release of the goods from storage. The BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) method is used to model and display process activities and flows to help envision the process. The process was analysed and presented in a diagram form, allowing for easier insight into its strengths and weaknesses.
The strengths of the business process are identified and presented, and opportunities for improvement are highlighted. One of the strengths is the transparency in the storage area, which is reflected in the traceability of a certain batch of goods. However, the fast pace of business can lead to errors at all stages of the business process, which is a disadvantage. Implementing the proposed improvements would enable faster business process execution, better resource management, and increased competitiveness.
The results of the thesis represent a practical contribution to the KGZ Sloga Kranj z.o.o. because it offers a basis for future optimizations and redesign of business processes which can have a positive impact on its business competitiveness and performance. At the same time, it offers other organizations insight into an approach for analyzing their business processes for the purposes of further optimization.
