The master's thesis explores the strategic role of the human resource (HR) function in global companies, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities that arise when adapting global HR strategies to local needs and the specific contexts of individual countries. Modern human resource management goes beyond traditional administrative tasks and is becoming a key strategic partner in achieving sustainable competitive advantage in today's business environment. The theoretical part analyzes the development of the HR function, approaches to strategic human resource management, and the influence of cultural and institutional factors on HR practices in an international context. The empirical part is based on a case study of a global company, using semi-structured interviews with HR professionals to examine specific approaches to adapting global strategies, identify key challenges, and highlight examples of best practices. The findings indicate that successful adaptation of global strategies to local needs requires a high level of cultural sensitivity, legal adaptability, and the development of competencies for managing diversity. Human resource management thus becomes a vital link between global strategy and the local environment, contributing to the long-term success of organizations.
